A new wave of physicians is coming to New Brunswick, promising to change the way women are treated.
The goal: Make sure women have the same quality of care they’ve always gotten.
The doctor-patient relationship is the backbone of a medical-care system that’s still built around the assumption that women have a higher need for care than men, said Dr. Robert Tisch, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the University of New Brunswick.
Tisch is one of the founders of the New Brunswick Doctors Association.
The group says it is calling on the province to adopt a national strategy to improve women’s access to care.
“If you want to have a positive relationship with women, you need to have access to high quality health care,” Tisch said.
The group has developed a set of new standards for doctors and nurses.
They also want the province and the province of New Hampshire to create a national network of women and their providers.
A new approach to careA new model of care is coming.
Doctors will no longer be expected to just listen to patients and follow their prescriptions, Tisch says.
They’ll have to make decisions based on what’s best for their patients.
The New Brunswick Health Minister has called for the creation of a national national network for women’s care, but so far it’s been hard to get a hold of a single provider.
Dr. Linda Brown, an OB/GYN at St. Michael’s Hospital, says women have had little access to quality healthcare for many years.
“I don’t think we’re ever going to have that opportunity again, especially in New Brunswick,” Brown said.
Brown says her OB/Gyns have worked closely with patients and their families to craft a plan for what’s right for them and their health.
She says the goal is to make sure women can access the care they need, no matter what their circumstances are.
“We know that if you have a patient, they’re going to go back to you again and again,” Brown says.
“That’s what our primary focus is to have as many of them as we can.”
To date, Brown says, she’s seen just six women return to the hospital for surgery in the last two years.
Brown believes the next step is to create an insurance plan for women, like Medicaid.
“That’s the first thing that we need to get done,” she said.
“And then we’ll see what happens if we get that, because that’s a really critical piece.”
New Brunswick has been the only province in New England to have an insurance program for women.
The province’s health system has faced criticism over the years, including a 2013 investigation into the adequacy of health care provided by health care providers.
In New Brunswick women have access in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
The state has also launched an online registry that lets women check how many women have visited their doctor and how long they’ve waited.
New Brunswick is also the only place in the United States that has a publicly funded paid family plan.
That’s a benefit for women with a newborn or an infant under one year old.
It’s also a critical piece of care for older women who need to access care for long-term conditions.
In order to provide better care for women and lower costs, Brown wants to create more flexible hours, including off-hours.
In an effort to help women stay connected to the health care system, the new network will help doctors, nurses and family members get in touch with patients on the phone and on the web.
It also will help nurses get better access to patients, including access to mobile phones.
