As if the news that she had a baby wasn’t depressing enough, St. Mary’s Medical Center also announced on Wednesday that a daughter has been born, bringing the hospital’s total number of live births to 10.
The hospital says the pregnancy was successful and the girl’s father, a resident of the United States, was released from prison earlier this month.
“It’s been a whirlwind year for me, and this has been an even more challenging year for my family,” the hospital said in a statement.
“We are thrilled with the results and our daughter’s first birthday.
The birth of our first child is a momentous occasion for all of us.
We are grateful for the outpouring of support from the public and the community.”
A hospital spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment on the birth.
It was not immediately clear whether St. Catherine’s Medical Institute is continuing the practice of not disclosing pregnancies to the public, which is illegal.
