New Delhi: An 18-year-old girl in Maharashtra has been allegedly raped by three men after she refused to have a pre-test to see if she had contracted HPV.
The incident happened last month.
According to the Times of Indian, the girl had been visiting the doctor at the city’s central station.
She was also a student of the college where she was studying and she had not gone to the exam room.
When she refused, she was allegedly gang-raped by the three men, who took turns to have sex with her.
The accused were allegedly asked to deposit money in her bank account and they would pay Rs 2,000 (about $2,500) to her parents, according to police.
The woman was taken to the police station and she told them that the accused had allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she went to the doctors office for the test, police said.
They had to take her to the doctor after she protested against the rape.
Police said they were investigating whether the accused were the same people who gang-raped the woman last month in Maharashtra’s central Mumbai.
They were arrested and booked under sections 376 (rape), 376A (rape of a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 504 (criminal intimidation).
